Mighty MIGHTY Fishermen!

This picture of our nephew Reece spells out Summer in a nutshell...
Rope swings, hot days, playing in water, and big 'ol happy smiles on a kids face. The only thing missing is the Popsicle on the boat dock with the yellow lab sitting and wagging its tail...sigh

Before I tell the tall tails of our fishing stories over the month of August, let me show you our ninja turtle crime fighter. Jon and I snagged him these fun new pj's while he was at Gramma's for that sleep over I mentioned in the last post. He takes this crime fighting thing so serious.
The sleepover was a success and the new jams were a hit.

On to fishing news...
The month of August included a few fishing trips and I'm sure I would have done the individual stories more justice had I had time to blog on each one.. but let me sum this fishing business up.
I thought it fitting that Dana's pic of her FIRST fish ever be the first pic of the post. Considering she caught the first fish of the day! Go Dana with your bad self and your 2 inch long fish. Just tell people it was 3 feet long, they wont ever know the difference. and leave out the part where you thought you knew where your friend lived and we all ended up parking in some strangers drive way and fishing on a strangers dock in a strangers pond only for them to come home and run us off! LOL
(technically we were across the street from the correct spot, but I probably wont include that part in the details of telling this story.)
The Paul boys were on a roll reeling in their first fish. With a little help from Uncle Jon they had this fishing thing down. and loved it. and I did not know fish ate cooked corn ?

... and check out Uncle Chris with the 'catch of the day' on his line.
is that a Superman fishing pole Chris ???
The things we do for kids!

The next day it was more fishing time, except this time with Mimi and Pops along with us..
Crickets were on the menu for this trip.
It was a hot one on the dock and the crickets were in the shade with the company of Kellen most of the day.. ha

Though when he did fish, it was entertaining as always.
He has the casting thing down pretty well. He's just not one to set and watch the bobber. He thinks he needs to reel it in and keep going through the motions.
Half of the time the bobber and bait is out of the water and he'll be sitting there thinking its taking forever to catch a fish..
sigh

Pops is giving him some pointers and he is listening intently I am sure of it!
Mimi did do more fishing than Kellen did, but they were both more interested in bubble gum, drinks, the crickets, and the shade.. lol
He had my moms camera at one point and asked if he could take some pictures of the water and she said yes, so he took about three pictures of the lake and then looked at them through the view finder all serious-like and then said, ' we need to save those and put them in the scrapbook.'

The Jaxsonater got to join us for our 2nd fishing trip with the Paul's this month.. This time we discovered a rope swing on the property and the boys loved it. Only had my iPhone with me this time.

This time the Davis crew sealed the deal on catching the fish.
This is Kellen's first fish! I think his face says it all. He is pretty stoked

Jaxson snagged him a doozy as well.
Talk about some might mighty mighty fishermen!
we have here! First it's puttering around in the pond and next it will be deep sea fishing!
We LOVE our simple life.
God is good

The Brighter the GRANDer and a TMNT 3.5 Party is Something to Celebrate!

Well if it ain't Gramma and the 5 grand boys
for their traditional yearly pics.
The theme for this little set of goofy shots was
the brighter the GRANDer.
The boys actually did better this year than they have done in any years past. I'm guessing the growing up thing has something to do with it. Gramma
made this fun shirts and we suffered through this as usual.
again, please don't think these are meant to be of high professional quality.
they are just goofy fun pictures that Jon's mom loves to scrapbook.
I love them!

The next one is my very favorite.. In fact, if Brody's hands were down, this would be about as good as it gets with five little boys and a Gramma in one picture.
Kellen was doing what Brody is doing in the pictures before this, so Brody is copying him. Brody looooooves his cousin Kellen. It is the cutest thing how much he admires Kellen.
The problem is K thinks he is 6 or 7 years old and is one of the big boys. So he treats Brody like he is a baby. Poor Brody. I think someday soon K will come around to realizing that they are in fact the same age, and will be good buddies.. We'll see.
Jon's mom is an excellent 'scrapbooker' as I've mentioned many times.
Clearly I'm admittedly getting old and dorky, but I enjoy sipping coffee and looking through her scrapbooks.. and I don't care who knows! ha
It's fun to see someone Else's view/take on my pictures and its enjoyable to see my child and family in these nice elaborate albums. fun fun

And this picture of these three ponchos ... budz for life.
An inside laugh at throwing Kellen a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 3 and a half year old birthday party turned into something we did this past weekend. I guess you can turn any event into a party if you have some TMNT party décor!
Jaxson was having no part of celebrating Kellen's 3.5 birthday... so we started just calling it a Ninja Turtle party.. But Kellen was setting at the table looking over all the party decorations in anticipation and Jon was telling him its your 3 and a HALF birthday party.. and Kellen would smile and get so excited. and was like 'I wish it was my WHOLE birthday party.'.. I love this kid :)
We bbq'd some chicken and invited over the family. There were no gifts involved, but we did have all the décor complete with ninja masks, yummy cake, and goody bags. There are a few pictures on my phone or instagram or somewhere of the party décor. I smooth forgot to get any on my actual camera. Too busy enjoying the partaaay.
The boys had fun terrorizing my house and the yard. ha
and the adults shared some laughs as well.
fun party!

We took the boys to see Percy Jackson II this past weekend and the night before we rented the first one so we could all get caught up.  We're veggin' out watching the movie:
Jon: 'This is a pretty good movie.'
Jax: 'Yeah but its a little creepy.'
Kellen: "I like it creepy.'
lol
Brody and Kellen have a stay the night slumber party at their Gramma's house this next weekend. Brody will be in cousin heaven to have Kellen all to himself. Too cute
and whatever will Jon and I do ??!!

Cousin Brody Turns 3!

Recently had Brody's 3 year old milestone photo session. These are some of my favorites from the session though there were dozens. He is turning into quite the blued eyed little ham.. When you have a kid this cute that knows how to smile, smirk, and grin for a camera lens ??? look out!

Pool Haze, Summer Daze

Guess we'll call the flash that just went by... Summer.
In between the buckets of rain we did manage to get some golf and swimming in. There were lots of days at the pool that consisted of COLD water, gray clouds over us instead of sunshine, and the occasional mid-day sprinkles... but we did manage to make our pool membership worth it. Lots of evening swims consisting of big laughs. Memories made so that's all that really matters.
this next picture is a perfect example of the Summer funness of the pool mixed with the gray rain clouds. yet another example our bipolar Arkansas weather.

we even managed to make some new friends this summer. This little guy swam with us one day. I'm guessing he was taking a field trip from the course pond.. He stuck around for quite a while this day, he was either dazed by all the chlorine, traumatized by the boys laughing at him, or just really wanted to join in on the fun because it seemed like he might hop in our pool bag and try to hitch a ride home. This momma is pretty glad he didn't!

The golf course got to see quite a bit of us this Summer as well.
On non busy days or evenings the three (or 4) of us would snag a cart and enjoy some lessons.

Lots of Popsicles, back yard play time, pool, Chic-fil-a, Jump Zone, Fun City, play dates, reading books... Overall we've had an incredible Summer. Though I know domesticated housewife was not my calling in life exactly, I am enjoying the stay-at-home-momma part of the deal. Soaking up every second I possibly can of hanging with the coolest little guy I know!
