3rd Annual Halloween Party!

We enjoyed last years Halloween party so much that we pretty much followed suit with everything for this year as well... Mimi did NOT disappoint with all of her sweet treats and Jon's chili and dogs were da bomb! The outfits this year were a hoot to say the least... Pops took everyone on a fantastic neighborhood hayride that the kids loved. lots of fun scrapbook pictures and memories.. Here are a few of the fun pics of the party..
Jon and I were hippies and I thought Jon looked hysterical.. he pulled off the long hair quite nicely. Oh and I know you are dying to know where you can snag one of these fabulous tie-dyed shirts..we made em. yes we did! it takes talent... not everyone has it. lol
we opted out of the family theme this year and did our own things.. Lets see, a monster, a clone trooper, and a couple of hippies.. looks like a 'hodge podge' crew if I've ever seen one!
Lily was probably my favorite costume of the party.. She showed up rarin to go in this sassy pirate get up.. so stinkin cute!! Angie was a hog fan and Ashton is the most beautiful cave girl EVER! :)
                                     Lily Grace.. aka Sassa-Frass!
Um, I look like scooby doo next to miss thang here.. when did my adorable little niece turn into a knock out ?!
Gramma and Papaw were hilarious. I was highly impressed that Pam was able to get Jim to wear this outfit.. and pictures to prove it! ha loved it. and my parents wore matching pajamas. my dad had a robe and my mom had curlers in her hair, the whole nine yards.. cute cute.. only thing missing was the pipe and recliner!
Now heres the Motley Crew of the bunch! The 80's rockers were AWESOME.
This picture I took doesnt even do their outfits justice.. I mean the boys had their hair all slicked up and fake tats on their arms..and Dana with her Tina Turner wig, lace socks and bangles... priceless!
We like to plan this annual Halloween Party around Jaxson's visits with us. Its our way of spending halloween with him since we dont get to each year.. This year we had decided to invite friends but knew that most of our friends with kiddos would be going to the annual hayride that the church has each year.. same night. No biggie. The Stricklands were able to make it and they brought 'super girl' along with them.. aka  miss Sydney! She is a cutie pie for sure.. precious precious. We were so glad they came :)

Its not easy getting these boys to stop playing long enough to take a picture, as you can see.. cousins!

                                                         ----------
...and it wouldnt be MY BLOG if I didnt talk about this little blue monster for a minute...
He went into overload mode at the Halloween party with so many of his family there at once... He tends to do this when so many people are around. He gets overwhelmed. Sadly I think he gets this from me. ha He was still adorable as ever and giving out hugs and even some kisses. He mostly ran around and wanted to be with his cousins and eat his sucker! or 'pop' as he calls them.
He is talking like craaazy now.. I am carrying on full conversations with this 20 month old baby. its unreal. Jon and I take him for walks around the block almost every day. and he no longer rides in the wagon he pushes it. while running.. around the entire block!
we marvel at how well he communicates and always has. He says ' i can do it' and 'i cant do it' and knows the difference between them. and says 'common momma' or 'im coming momma'. how can a tiny little person understand correct tenses like that?! His pronunciation of words is priceless.. today he asked me 'you dinkin coggee momma?'  Coffee is 'coggee' and colors are 'cuggers'.
I dont really have to rock him to sleep, he will go to bed on his own, always has, but he likes to set in the chair for a little while and I hold him and sing to him before bed.. and tonight we were talking and I said 'be still for a minute, you have a boogie, let momma get it real quick.' so a few minutes later were talking and singing and he looks at me and says ' you gotta boogie momma, let me git it' and sticks his finger in my nose and giggles! I'm tellin ya, its the moments like that one.. lol

Mimi's birthday, jax-o-lantern, & tooth-umbs up!

These are a couple of the cutie kids my mom watches during the week for preschool. Kellen absolutely loves hanging out with them. He thinks hes as big as they are.
On the one day we decide to get the kiddos together for a punkin filled fiasco it happens to be 45 degrees outside and happens to be my mom's birthday.. SO happy freezing dog cold birthday to Mimi! :)
We opted to have some play area fun at chic-fil-a for the day and let the kids run around the pumpkins at Vanzants for a while and enjoyed our day anyways. It was Kellens first time playing at the play area in Chic-fil-a. He of course had a ball.
My mom told the kids to pick a pumpkin out and Kellen opted to take the walnuts off the ground. anything that resembles a ball he can throw is going to be his first pick! sigh
----------
Tooth-umbs UP!
Jaxson lost his FIRST tooth Friday and brought it with him in this handy little tooth container for the tooth fairy. He was very proud and kept showing me his tooth gap smile. The tooth fairy had not made prior arrangements at the atm for this special event so she ended up leaving him $3.. it was that or a twenty, so three dollaz it was!! ha Jon put it under his pillow. The next morning he woke up and says, 'the tooth fairy took my tooth but didnt leave me any money."  So Jon goes into his room to help him find it.. It had fallen behind the bed. this was not surprising to either of us considering this kid turns around in that queen size bed at LEAST 65 different ways throughout the course of a night. Teeth falling out, one of many kid happenings :)

 ---------
Punkin Carving Time... I just stood back with the camera and let the Davis boys enjoy this mess.. ha
Jax was all about getting his hands dirty and helping carve it but Kellen was more like 'whateva'.

Jon was patient with Jax and as safely as possible let him help carve. He got a little carried away and cut off the tooth we had given it in honor of the lost tooth... well this was NOT good news to our toothless wonder... so we opted to rig it.. our jack-o-lantern had a minor operation involving 2 tooth picks and some man power by dad..it was as good as new. Jaxson cleverly named him 'loose tooth jax-o-lantern' .. how fitting. he's a doozy.

-------
Speaking of a doozy... This little monkey, I mean cousin Brody, came over for a play date last week so we got a few pictures of him in his halloween costume.

20 Month Milestone...In the Spirit of FALL

In the Spirit of FALL
First of all, let me say that no matter what personal disappointments or failures I have in life, I can spend a minute with my son and it makes it alllll go away...
This child is four months away from being 2 years old. Time flies when youre having fun. At 20 months he has developed an interest in Batman, or 'Batmeen' as he pronounces it. He has also discovered that mom and dads bed is WAY comfortable for kickin back, sippin on some 'chok' milk and watching movies. Though he doesnt stay still longer then 10 minutes, it is still adorable to watch him climb the king size bed and get under the covers and chill with his sippy cup.
"Where's batmeen? i dun knOw!" is repeated over and over during the movie. he answers his own question, luv it.
we now take a morning flinstone vitamin.. and if I get busy and forget about it he will remind me he needs his 'vitameen'.
We have a lot of September and October birthdays in our family, and in trying to teach him to say happy birthday to different people he has picked up 'happy day'.. he now says this every day with excitement and a huge smile on his face. He is such a happy baby with a sweet spirit. As an adult that tends to be grumpy all too often I could learn a thing or two from this little guy.
Playing ball and being outside is what he loves to do more then about anything... last week on one of our usual walks he decided he didnt want to ride in the red wagon on that trip so he walked with us.. actually, he RAN in front of us around the entire block. I know older kids that couldnt do that without having to stop and rest and my 20 month old didnt skip a beat! crazy
Vintage Hawg
My mom tends to give me random things to bring home with me about every time I go to her house. must just be a mom thing.. One item she sent our way was a Razorback shirt of mine from when I was Kellen's age.. This is a 30+ year old shirt! If I ever get a chance while at my parents house i'm gonna try to dig into the archives and locate a snapshot of me wearing it for his scrapbook. If you dont have kids, it might be an eye roller but to this momma its pretty neat to think of how time marches on...
and as you can see below, we have a lefty on our hands

he was riding his 4wheeler along the road having a grand ol time and mom up and moved him out into the field for a picture.. I think the expression explains his thoughts on the matter pretty clear. ha
and here he is posing with Manny.
If you remember last years pictures I had of his 'run in' with the neighbors cat you will see that we've come a loooong way in the past year. He will get outside and head straight down the side walk yelling 'man-eee' He is loving animals and that makes me happy.. He needs a DOG (subliminal message to Jon)
Lawn mower 'dwivin' with his Pops
The hat didnt stay on longer then .05 seconds, just long enough to freeze frame it in a pic!

____
He is counting now 'ooooooone, twooooo'. Nothing in the house is off limits apparently and he pilfers through as he pleases. Nothings safe! this week i thought he was in his room playing for a few minutes but it was too quiet so i went to check on him.. he was in jon's closet, standing in his tall work boots and was trying to put on his belt. when he saw me he just starts giggling..
My sister came by to visit him the other day at my parents house, so he started saying aunt tiffiney.. he puts his hands in the air and yells 'ant tidneeeey!'
its hysterical to jon and I.
So many cute moments and things they say.... sigh :)
