Birthday Hoopla With a Little Modern Combat!

So I had heard of Modern Mission a few times, but had
not been until our nephew Caden had his birthday party there this past weekend.
To be honest, I think the adults had as much if not MORE fun than then kids did.
We had a BLAST.
I did bring my camera but opted to leave it in the car so
I could play a little combat instead of take the pictures :)
Thank you to Misty for taking a few phone pics to capture the event.
This is a picture of her hubby David and there I am, dressed up for warfare!
lol
and once my baby got geared up with his head
band and gun in hand I was a bit sad that
I didn't have my camera. but thank you
Misty for getting this for us.
He is armed and ready to rock!
...and so is cousin Brody. The birthday party kids decided they wanted it to be
the adults versus the kids.
So Brody and Kellen came along with us adults.
There were 5 adults against 10 kids.
We of course had to whoop up on them
and show them who was boss. lol
It got so bad that the workers were actually carrying guns
and trying to help them out.
at one point Jaxson was up in a fort and Jon had shot him out of it
and as Jax was getting down to go back to base
he was like 'dad help me down'
and Jon was like ' nope, youre on your own' and
kept going..
Ruthless on the battlefield!!
LOL
Dana was the 'genera' for one of the rounds and we had to protect her so we had her hidden up behind a hill. We were all
risking our lives and getting shot at and shooting lasers at kids and stuff and
she was back there facebooking and texting. haha
Kudos to the creators of Modern Mission.
We will for sure come back for more!

My Heart in a Field in the Fall

I'm guessing it is due to the added rain we have
had this year, but I have found more great picture spots this year than any other year passed.
Found this fun spot a few weeks back
and have had some great luck here with many clients as well.
I pretty much scope out a spot, and then typically take my husband
and son there to try it out. For one, this is a good
way to test lighting and angles, and two, it's my excuse
to get them to do pictures so that I can
continue taking hundreds of my family.
shhhhh.. don't tell on me.

The next one is one of my favorites of all time.
These two have always photographed well
together. I have an abundance of pictures
of them together and feel blessed for that.
but there is something extra wonderful about
this one. I think it will make the gallery wrap
wall I'm putting together.. oh yes yes

There is quite the personality in this child of mine.
This is one of his many smiles I get often.

and childhood is a beautiful thing and anytime you can
get a snapshot a little one running and playing and enjoying
life you should. Don't miss the opportunity to
capture real joy of childhood.

He tells everyone he is 3 and a half, and he holds up his 3 fingers. He is counting well into the 20's and slowly but surely we are learning to read and write all the abc's. This summer we took a good break from 'schooling' just to play and enjoy the pool and the summer, but
now we are back to lots of writing and preschool activity books.
He is a quick learner and I have no worries on his ability to jump into preschool
and kindergarten head first and excel.

Hide n seek is a major fave right now. and Nerf guns.
The boys bought me my very own pink Nerf gun for my
birthday this year. I love it!
We have Nerf gun wars on a weekly if not nightly basis
around our house, and play chase and hide n seek
every single day.
'Momma you're a good hidin spotter.' - KPD
Baseball is still his number one sport.
We practice catching and throwing and hitting every
week if not day. He is loving Mission Friends
at our church, and starting to really remember
kids names and making friends and building
relationships.
It is fun to watch him interact with his
friends.
At our Sunday school outing a few weeks back they had gotten the inflatables for kids
and one of them was 'jousting'.. Most of the kids playing were 5 and up. The other 3 year old cuties were over jumping in the bouncy house thing, but not my big boy..
He was with all the big kids thinking he needed a turn at this jousting thing.
Ashlyn was sweet enough to dual him and be easy about it :)
He could barely see out of the helmet, could barely hold up the jousting stick thing and could barely balance on the stool, but he gave it everything he had.
I loved the determination to get it done. ha
he was stinkin cute giving it a go.
love my sweet boy.
As sweet as he is, and its pretty sweet, the age of 3 has brought
with it some rotten as well.
The word poop is still his favorite and gets overused.
ha
His expressions are still adorable but he
has added a loooot more attitude to the mix.
He still pronounces the priceless words though..
Recently I've noticed these:
fratend - pretend
inja = ninja
Abc's are still 'h-i-j-j kella mento p'
When we sing ring around the rosie' he says
'pocka pulla posey'.  makes my heart smile
with delight!
It's not really a secret that we've been trying for quite
a while now to have another baby.. The idea of K having a sibling
that he is close with and that he can share a loving bond with
and understand how close that relationship can be is what I
want for him. I also just feel like one more would complete our
little family circle. The clock is ticking on it though, and I am
starting to accept that it just might not be God's plan for us.
Jon tries to make me feel better about it and is like
'well we got it right the first time with K'..
and he is right, we are pretty pleased. ha
God knows his plan for our lives. I lack patience and understanding
of that great plan, most of the time.
Maybe it is all to teach me that things are not
in my control.
We are beyond blessed for the two boys that we have and
to have found each other. Life is wonderful
with or without another baby.
Oh but wouldn't a blond headed quirky little girl be so
stinkin cute ???!!
:)

The Davis 5th Annual Halloween Party !

Kind of cool to realize
we have had this tradition
for FIVE years now. This was our 5th annual
Davis Halloween Party. We celebrated by
making the invite list a little bigger than
usual.
We certainly hope we didn't hurt any one's
feelings by leaving anyone out... if our house
was enormous we would invite everyone
we know.. but for now, our home is small
and max capacity is not too large.
So we invited a handful of friends to join
in on the fun, and we hope they all had
as much fun as we did!

We were heroes in a half shell this year.
The Davis crew brought the TURTLE POWER!

And this is kind of fun... Above is a picture we took from our very FIRST Davis party 5 years ago, and the next one is from this years festivities.
This group of girls are besties.
I think they enjoyed themselves at our partaaay.

The Roughley's are awesome. Crissy is one of the
sweetest caring people I have met in a long time :)
Then there was princess Lily Grace, who chose to be
the Little Mermaid this year. She rocked her some bright red
locks!

We gave it a pretty comfortable approach to crime fighting
with our forest green sweats and tan tape!
They are a couple sizes to big as we had to order
them online from Wally due to the fact
this color is not in high demand anymore!
:)

I went with a 'go big or go home' theme for the kids
treat table this year. There were lots of spooky treats.
I loved watching their expressions when they would walk
up to the table. Eyes would light up in amazement
of all the ghoulish goodies. Made it all
worth it for me!

Pops made a great Phil this year. He and Mimi were
Phil and Mrs. Kay. They rocked it!
And happy birthday to mom. Thanks for spending your birthday this
year serving up frightful treats at our party.
You never fail to be amazing and wonderful.
She actually was in crazy pain from a massive
kidney stone she didn't know she had at the time,
and yet she smiled and served and enjoyed
herself the entire night.
She is truly an amazing woman that
I love and admire more than she
will ever know.

The Paul fam was the ghoulish crew this year.
Vampire, witch, skeletons, and the cutest bat I've
ever seen.
They always do a great job with the family theme for this
fun party. love it

And then there is Gramma and Papaw.. Or in this case,
Salt - n - Pepper!
As I've said before, the fact that Gramma gets him to dress up
each year in these funny get-ups is so
impressive.
fun fun fun

The Gayduseks brought a handsome red
ninja and Snow White to the shin dig this year.
Hopefully next year Shelly and Warren can
dress up and join the pics!
(they better!!)
The Mathis family is awesome as always.
Brooke is not short on the boys in her
household.. ha
but they are cute sweet boys which
are the BEST

The biker gang showed up late in typical
biker fashion. Check out Zander's mustache...
Don't MESS with the muscle!

Ingraham... party of 5.. Ingraham party of 5!
ha.. Another sweet lady that has
her hands FULL with allll boys.
and these guys are alllll boy!
ha

Oh Reecer, Reecer.. His dad put a 'spider' on his
shoulder that didn't phase him one bit.. He is
shoving in a piece of candy and enjoying every
second of it.. In fact, knowing Reece he probably
packed away LOTS of candy while
no one was looking.. he loves his sweets!

My boys were in kid heaven with all of these friends and cousins
at their house. They each had a blast. So much
fun in fact that the pictures are few and far between because
they couldn't be bothered too much with the camera.
That's OK. Fun is what its all about.

The back porch dance party got started a little early this
year.. It was a hoot as always. Lily and Kellen had
to share the dance floor this year with some
friends but they didn't seem to mind.

We chose not to let the kids have all the laughs..
We girls always manage to enjoy the camera as well.
These ladies are awesome.
Each of them are genuine and have big hearts
and care about their friends and I love
them dearly for that :)

Brooke and Colt sharing a moment.
Oh Brooke how beautiful you are.. and oh
Colt you are so funny with your serious expressions
for the camera :) luv

A couple of witches!
fun fun fun

Loved all the treats, loved all the fun.
Thanks to our family members who worked so hard to help
us bring all of this together.
Papaw about broke his back starting a fire
with wet pallet wood, Pops successfully drove everyone
around safely for the hayride, Mimi and Aunt Barb made
some wonderful goodies that took preparation and then
served them while here, and Gramma made some
great treats and brought some great props all on
no sleep from having to be with Grandma Evelyn
who is in the hospital with heart complications.
Thanks for everything all of you do for us
it does not go unnoticed.. and to our friends,
we do plan on this being an annual tradition
that grows bigger and better with each year to come!

Until the next one, have a spookilicious Halloween!
and remember God loves you and this is all for family memories and fun!
Love the Davis crew :)
