84 Years Beautiful...

For as long as I can remember I have always
known that my Grandma is not the typical
sugary sweet grandmother that I've noticed
most people have.
She has always been just a tad too spicy :)

Not everyone can set a perfect example,
 or be sticky sweet
at all times or please the masses.
I am a lot like her in more ways
then I'd probably ever admit. wink

She is however, the only grandparent I have had
since a very early age, and no
 matter how dramatic
or wild things get with her
I will always love her and try to help her
any way that I can.
If you're a child of God and know
that in your heart, then age should
just be a number and you should allow
yourself to age gracefully.
Be giving to others and serve them
before you serve yourself. If you
have things that are not being used, let
others get the use and the good out
of them. Do not hoard them for yourself
for no other reason than selfishness.
Be kind to others, even when you think
they have done you wrong.
Be kind to people even if they are not your
favorite people. You will have loved ones
you are bias towards, that is only human,
but try to treat everyone equally as
not to hurt the feelings of those that
are not on your favorite list.
-- It takes examples of all kinds in life to learn
valuable lessons.--
The things I choose to love and think of my
Grandma for:
Overly generous to give her money to
Kellen, Jon, and I.
Always willing to give Kellen all the change out of her purse
Always giving him candy and toys.
Always trying to make sure kids have enough to eat.
Thinks Kellen is perfect and loves everything about him.
Used to ALWAYS let me win at Yahtzee no matter how many
times I would have to roll the dice to get what I needed!
I remember her smiling and clapping and laughing
every time I'd get a Yahtzee.
Simplicity of life on her yard swing and singing songs.
and of course later in life as she's decided there isn't much
to do with her hair, her hats.
She has a hat like this in every color!
And she looks the most fabulous wearing them!
I told her lets put them on and take some pictures just for fun and
she said 'that looks good on you, you can have it if you want to.'

She reminds me to be the example that I want others to be.
Not everything about someone has to be negative.
Life is short and precious. Fill it with people to
love on and enjoy.

I love you Grandma Ida.
Happy 84th birthday
May you live and be happy for
many more!

Pumpkin Perfection

Pumpkin Patch , oh Pumpkin Patch... What did parents ever do without you ??
ha
McGarrah's did it up right this year. We went early on a week day morning and practically had the place to ourselves. Pumpkin perfection if you ask me.
Hayride, mule cart (whatever this thing is called.), hay tunnel, pyramid, wooden tractor.. we had a blast. Leave it to Jon and I to find the bean bag toss and make it competitive. ha
Kudos to McGarrah's this year for a job well done!

The wooden tractor is genius for kids.
Whoever build this has some mad skills.
we climbed in the back of this thing and he pretended to drive
us all around. hoot.

and then here he is being himself..
My adorably ornery little stinky monster pumpkin!
Until we meet again Patch.

Nemo the betta.. some hats and some pumpkins.

Our couch is blocking most of the sunlight that needs to be shining through Nemo's fish bowl in order to make this picture great... but I thought it was fun none the less.
This is our betta fish that Kellen named Nemo. We were cleaning out his bowl and I decided to snag the camera. fun fun
---
Also fun was last weeks painting pumpkins with our cousins.
The plan was to take the five boys to the pumpkin patch. However,
we woke up to a rainy day and decided to paint some pumpkins in the garage instead.
Dana had her camera and got pictures and sent them to me. I'm just too lazy to go get them for this post. ha

I think Jaxson was calling this a zombie pumpkin.
I think its pretty good.
Nerf guns, paint messes, cousins... whats not to love.
good day
----
We try to see after our great Grandma Ida as much as possible.
Anyone that knows her knows that she is a fire ball.
We took her to her doc appointment last week and afterwards she wanted to shop.
She was on a mission for more hats.. (she has one in about every color of the rainbow.)
So hat shopping we went! She was trying them on left and right, so Kellen decided
he couldn't let her have all the fun. This is the one he liked.
Fedora anyone ?
and for anyone keeping record, G-Ida has two more hats added to her collection.
:)

I have resorted to calling this little guy 'stinker' most of the time, and his favorite word is still poop. He is clearly an only child most of the time of his life because he thinks his mom and dad are his playmates and should just be able to play pirates and Nerf guns at all hours of the day and night. Speaking of Nerf guns, we now own tons of them and there is not a day that goes by that we don't have a Nerf gun war in our house. Bullets flying all over, room to room. I can no longer count how many times I've been hit in the face or the back of the head or any other part for that matter with a blue Nerf gun bullet! Jon and I do most of the shooting and somehow Kellen ends up just handing us both bullets to reload.
We are grown kids!

Prince the Horse and Moonshine the Chevy!

We went to visit my friend Amy and take some pictures with her husbands old truck, and ended up making some new friends. This is Prince.
He loves apples.

The other horses walked off when they realized we were out of apples but Prince enjoyed our company. He was patient with us.
If I had told K we were going to load him up and take him home
he would have been ready to ride in the trailer on the way home!
we plan to go back and spend a day at the ranch.
Let K ride some horses!
We also met Moonshine, the classic Chevy. '57 Chevy I think?
He's a beaut!

He and Kellen did some solemn thinking.
Sometimes a fella just needs to reflect on his life...

Fun morning. I think this new friend of ours will look grand posing with us in some upcoming family portraits. Oh the simple family life we lead.
Sigh

Randomness is good for the soul.

Go Hogs Go!
Rain, rain, ponchos and rain!
Well losing aside, the Texas A&M game was a great game to be at.
One of my favorites in a LONG time from the hogs, loved every minute of it.
(especially watching Johnny payday get SACKED!)
Thank you Elizabeth for the great seats!
Pops and the boys are ready to call some hogs.
I'll admit tailgating is fun, stadium atmosphere is fun, but personally my parents living room and flat screen TV is the best spot in town for watching some Razorback ball!
I think Kellen agrees :)
Some phone goodies..
This fills this Mommas heart with joy. Just one of many afternoons spent loving on my sweet boy, sharing laughs and memories made.
sigh
The Davis crew loves us some bowling,
but on this one its not looking good for the K-man.
:)
----
Let me apologize now for the horrible quality on some of these pictures.
It's probably safe to say that with a shattered back on my phone and the fact that it runs slower than Moses, I have probably dropped it a few too many times.. oops
None the less, there are moments when a crappy phone will just have to do.
Our garden is small and on most days it only produced enough to carry in your hands. Well day after day Jon would go pick the tomatoes and he would use his shirt to hold them and bring them in the house. So one afternoon, Kellen was outside playing and I look out the window and that is what he is doing. He's over in the garden picking the maters and then walks across the yard with them in his shirt, identical to his dad.. brings them in and sets them up on the counter and then goes back out to play.
Love my boy!

Though we enjoyed our days home together and all that it entailed,
Summer is drawing to an end and we are welcoming Fall with
open arms.

-----

And our princess Lily turned 6.. unbelievable!
She had a fabulous party.
My mom and Brittany got her dress up clothes
as gifts and so she had several outfit changes to model all
of her new dudds. I was bummed I opted not to bring
my camera for this one. snooze I lose, I guess.
We love you LG !
----
----
Go Dogs Go!
We caught an SHS game a few weeks back.
It was AHwesome!
Ashton's boyfriend made a great catch, and then his little brother
made the winning touchdown to win the game at the very end.
Incredible game, lots of fun.
... and last but certainly not least.. I mentioned a few posts back that Brittany had Kellen write a letter to Lightning McQueen.
We received a response! I was shocked and amazed that it actually worked!
Well, its a post card from the Mickey Mouse gang... not exactly
Lightning McQueen. ha but they did respond, and the best
part is that as soon as we told him what it was he was sooooo excited!
He fell asleep that night with the post card by his side.
and as if you even had to ask, I will absolutely be scrap booking this little goody!
:)
