BAM! What?! A Big Boy Cut!

Bam!
And just like that he turns four and moves out and goes to college!
I blame Mrs. Crissy for this!  (friend/hairstylist)
ha
I'm not 100% sure why this happened.. I know two things.
1.) its my fault
2.) I'm not sure why its my fault
Jon and I both love his long hair. LOVE it. but with sports
and school around the corner I felt compelled to cut it off.
He is 90- to- nothing and sweats very easily and his
hair gets soaking wet from it.
Plus, as cute as we think it is, he
was constantly having to move it out of his eyes.
Blah.
It just seemed like the thing to do... and on Valentine's Day
of all days.

So BAM, just like that his golden locks
are no longer. I keep telling myself
it is just hair for Pete sake and it can
grow back. WHY am I such a psycho
mom. I have no idea.
sigh

The red was all Mrs. Crissy.
She asked him if he wanted red or blue and
added the gel. Yes it washes out. It is already out.
but we actually liked it.
He loved it.
He asked me, pointing to his hair:  'Is it going to wash out when I take a bath ?'
me: 'yes baby, it washes right out.'
k: 'I want to keep it forever.'
me:  'giggle, OK, maybe we can buy you some red gel.'
k: 'awesome'
The spike was a hit as well.
All day long he asked me,  ' is it still up?'

Somethings Fishy in February!

Rewind to a few months ago and we asked
Kellen what he wanted to do for his birthday.
The first thing he mentioned was a fishing party.
He wanted all of his family to go fishing and have the
birthday there, at the water.
 Which would
be a great idea if this boy's birthday was not
in frozen toes February!
His older cousins have had fun parties since then
at some fun places that he has enjoyed, but
he kept going back to a fish party.
SO, we put together a 'fish party'
(please know we would invite everyone we know
if we had the space for that.)

The piƱata was a success. Jonas and Reece
loosened it up pretty good with their massive
hits and then the birthday boy got to be the one to
bust the candy loose. Talk about a feeding frenzy!
These vulchers, I mean kids, were allll
over my dirty garage floor chasing after the sweets.
Here is Lilly and Kellen showing off their loot.

He laughed when he saw this card, and opened it up, acted like
he was reading it and then giggled again.. Guess he 'read' something
funny. priceless

The gifts were perfect. Couldn't have hand picked
them all better myself.
The Paul boys stayed late and enjoyed some
Uncle Jon wrestling time, and then after
they left the Davis boys still continued the
match!
Thank you Mimi for the socker boppers.
As you can see they were a hit!
LITERALLY

Happy birthday sweet boy. We love you beyond measure!

Turning FOUR and a little more!

FOUR - year old pictures of my monkey cakes!
As Juan Pablo the current
bachelor would say... ' I-yi-yi !'
Do you see the heart ?
Well if not, then just look past the clump of snow to the sweet
face and you'll find mine.

Our little guy has a February birthday and around
these parts that usually means there is a chance that
cold weather and possible snow will be involved.
and this year snow was for sure on the forecast!
We are fortunate to get to stay indoors
and be warm during most of it, and pick and choose
when we want to get out and play.
I have concluded that at least for this time in our lives,
we do not technically live in reality.. well, Jon does. He has
to venture out to work and pay bills and all of that fun crap..
but Kellen and I just kind of do our own little thing right now... and it, my friends,
is total bliss.  sigh
Now I know it won't last forever. K will start preschool next year and then
Kindergarten after that, blah.. but for now, we are loving the
freedom to enjoy life the simple life.
:)
For 4-year old pictures we went with whatever we got.
Some of my favorites ended up being the
ones I snagged while he was enjoying his
warm- up cup of hot chocolate when
we got back inside.

-----

Our vision of umbrella and rain boots included
some water to look like rain. but again, its February
so we didn't push our luck.

Updated facts would include really liking the show
PawPatrol. He and his buddies like to watch this and
then play like they are the characters.
In our hallway we have an indoor basketball goal hooked over
the closet door. We play basketball games almost
daily right now. he'll say, 'let's shoot some hoops'
my personal favorite is 'slam-a-dunk'
:)
What started with a little Disney tri-puzzle set my
sister got him a while back has turned into a recent
hobby of putting puzzles together. We bought him
a few puzzles for his birthday, put them together and realized
the three of us had fun putting them together
so we've gotten a few fun ones.
Batman, Noah's Arc, and recently one that he picked
out that is of Chicago. He remembers our
trip there last year and asks to go back and when
we told him the puzzle was of Chicago he was all about
picking that one. He recognized a few of the land marks
that were on it as places we have been, including 'the bean'
and the museum.
Did I ever in a million years think I'd be home on Friday nights
putting puzzles together with the family?
No, but we are loving it.

The next three are signature Kellen faces.
It's like God decided to see just how much personality he
could put in one little nugget kid!
Priceless

On his actual birthday, his friends sang happy birthday to him
in Sunday School, we got to shop with Mimi
at Wal-mart for a few more treats.. It was a good day.
He told me several times throughout the day
that he was four now so he could do more things.
' I'm four now Momma, so I think I can go to the restroom at the
gas station by myself.'  me: 'you think so do you.'
k: 'yeah... (thinking about it).. but where will you be, will you stand outside the
door and wait for me?'
:)
That night we were watching our nightly TV and vegging in bed and
talking and laughing and he got really quiet and was in deep thought...
me: 'What is wrong, what are you thinking about?'
him: 'Well I'm 4 now and I'm a big boy, but I didn't grow any today.'
me, holding back giggles : 'well baby, I think you grew all year long, I don't think
it happens in just one day.'
So the following morning I told Jon that he was very worried and didn't think he grew any.
So as soon as Jon saw him he said, ' Kellen, stand back a minute let me look at you.'
so Kellen did.
Jon tells him that he grew bigger and looks taller he must have grown overnight.
The satisfied smile on Kellen's face said it all.
:)
Love my Davis boys, love my simple life
Happy birthday to the coolest kid I've ever known.

Exciting Changes for Friends!

Since I was hosting January bunco it only seemed fitting that
it double as a night to celebrate our friend Nicole.
They are moving to Kazakhstan for work
in a month or so and we are going to miss
this sweet family dearly.
Over the years
It is hard being an outsider to a
group of friends and families that are already
so close-nit. There have been many times we
just wanted to give up and go elsewhere, but God
seems to want us to stay put.
Joe and especially Nicole have always done
their best to make us feel welcomed and a part
of this group. We appreciate that more
than they probably know.
SO
We celebrate Nicole the only way we know how!
With some food, some friends, some goofy pictures, and some bunco!
(Excuse the poor lighting. Somehow batteries for the flash didn't make the
Wal-Mart list that week.)
These three sisters impress me so much.
Each of them in different ways, but I admire so
many things about each of them.
 All of these ladies bring
so many different admirable qualities. Ability to kick back and take goofy
pictures is tops on my list! :)

Though I do not plan to ever learn Russian, ( good luck with that Nicole),
I would love to visit this family in Kazakhstan in the future. Big adventures
await them.

And Shell Shell is hearing wedding bell bells
I've known this girl for a while now. She is one spunky hot potato and I am tickled pink
that she has met her man.
Jimmy is great and I am so happy for this girl.
Talk about one chica that deserves her happily ever after.
We hit up the bridal fair a few weekends ago and had a blast.
I've never opted to 'work' the bridal fairs for my business, so it was
neat to talk to some that do, and to see their displays and package options.
One thing about it, the business of weddings is big business!
Mercy, there are tons of venues and options to choose from that is for sure.
I offered to do her pictures, but Shell Shell is insisting that I wear a blue dress and be in her wedding. I'm excited about it. and so happy for her.
